Anticholinergics

Anticholinergic drugs are used to treat overactive bladders. These medications block the chemical neurotransmitter called acetylcholine which signals to your brain that it is okay for urination and causes abnormal muscle contractions. These contractions can make you feel the need to pee even when you don’t have to!

Anticholinergic medications include:

• Oxybutynin (Ditropan XL, Oxytrol)
• Tolterodine (Detrol)
• Darifenacin (Enablex)
• Solifenacin (Vesicare)
• Trospium
• Fesoterodine (Toviaz)
